Rape and/or Sexual Assault Resources

During Normal Business Hours

If you are a female who has been raped or sexually assaulted, come to Gynecology Services on the second floor of the Campus Health Center. If you are a male who has been raped or sexually assaulted, come to the Medical Clinic on the first floor of the Campus Health Center. We will prioritize your visit. You may bring a friend with you, if you wish.

We will ask if you wish to press criminal charges. We will not try to persuade you in your decision, but we will discuss the available options. If you wish to press charges, Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Center at The Solace Center must collect evidence within 120 hours. Survivors age 16 and older and have no injuries that require medical attention are eligible for services. In order to preserve evidence, do not change your clothes, shower, bathe, douche, or brush your teeth. Save the clothing you wore during the assault in a paper bag or pillowcase. Do not disturb the location where the assault occurred.

Campus Health will perform STI (sexually transmitted infection) tests and treatment for exposure at no cost. If you are concerned about pregnancy, emergency contraception plan B is available at the Campus Health Pharmacy.

During your appointment, Campus Health providers will review available campus resources with you, including the Counseling Center. If you would like to see a counselor, we will help you make an appointment. The NC State Women’s Center also offers private, non-confidential advocacy support services to survivors of sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, stalking, and sexual harassment. You can reach an advocate by calling the 24/7 Sexual Assault Helpline at 919-515-4444 or emailing ncsuadvocate@ncsu.edu to schedule an appointment.

If you do not feel comfortable coming to Campus Health, The Solace Center also provides care for those who have been sexually assaulted. The Solace Center can be reached at 919-828-3067.

After Business Hours

If you have been raped or sexually assaulted and the Campus Center is closed, call 911. You may also choose to call The Solace Center (located at InterAct’s Family Safety and Empowerment Center) at 919-828-3067.
