Bio

Dr. Courtney Hinton serves as the Medical Director of Campus Health at North Carolina State University, where she is dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality medical services for the ever-changing student population. Dr. Hinton holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA), along with the distinction of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP). Her leadership extends regionally as the 2026-2027 President of the Southern College Health Association, where she advocates for the continuous improvement of collegiate health systems.

With a clinical focus on college health, public health, sports and dance medicine, and eating disorder treatment, Dr. Hinton brings a comprehensive approach to student wellness. Dr. Hinton is also a certified QPR suicide prevention instructor, highlighting her commitment to the intersection of mental and physical health. Her extensive experience in both healthcare and education reinforces her strong belief that student wellness is an integral and required aspect of student success.

She maintains active membership with the American College Health Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and Women Leaders in Sports. She is also a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science, drawing on her own background in the performing arts to support student-athletes and dancers alike. In 2025, she was honored with an Affiliate New Professional Award from the American College Health Association, which is granted to members who have provided service to the field of college health for five years or less and have made significant contributions to their institutions and/or affiliate.  Dr. Hinton is passionate about fostering a healthy, supportive, and welcoming environment for all NC State students and enjoys spending her personal time with family and friends.
