Stomach Illness Affecting Fraternity and Sorority Life Houses

Approximately 50 students living mostly in Greek Houses Court have reported symptoms of an upper gastrointestinal illness, specifically vomiting, within the last 48 hours. Student Health Services, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Environmental Health and Safety, and the Wake County Health Department are actively investigating the source of the illness.

Important information:

  • Any students who are presenting symptoms should remain in their rooms and email your CRD.
  • Students who are not sick should go about their normal routines.
  • The Division of Academic and Student Affairs will communicate with the faculty of those students who have been reported as sick. If you have missed class, we encourage you to reach out to your faculty members. If you have questions about this, please email absence-verification@ncsu.edu
  • If you have other concerns, email academic-student-affairs@ncsu.edu or call the Wolfpack Response Line at 919.512.3272.

All students and staff are encouraged to practice good personal hygiene, including frequent hand washing.

Wellness kits containing liquids and easy-to-digest foods are available to affected students. If you or someone you know needs a kit, contact your CRD. Housekeeping is increasing cleaning operations in the affected houses as a precaution.

Additional information will be provided as soon as it is known.
